Not recommended. The resin is very hard and difficult to get out of the container. I have given up and gone back to using the capsules.

When I heard about Shilajit I’d had 19 years of pain, 19 years of daily meds including morphine and many spinal surgeries. I was waiting for yet another neck surgery and possibly another back one too. I was so fearful of having another surgery after a mistake in the last one meant I could have died. I was really in the right mind set to try something new.
My brother in law had been trying it and had started noticing some positive effects. I decided I had to try it if there was a chance it would work for me. I have now been taking it for 1.5 years and I can’t see myself stopping!

The surgeries I’d had, a majority of them anyway, were considered successful in that they stopped further nerve damage to preserve function to limbs and organs. They also stopped the immediate nerve pain too. But I was left with pain, scar tissue, numbness/weakness in all my limbs, and extra pain/issues caused by the operations themselves.

I was so unsatisfied with life. With my pain made worse by sitting, standing, lying down before I even started trying to do any activity; I lived a quiet life and couldn’t always take part in events and well, just in life in general.
I stopped going away overnight because of sleeping issues, I stopped visiting people because my most comfortable chair was at home, I stopped shopping in stores because I couldn’t walk longer than 10 mins or stand around looking, I stopped driving much due to required arm and neck use and the risk of trapping a nerve every time I turned my head; it was painful enough to just be a passenger in a car when every bump in the road caused pain. If I wanted to do these sorts of things I had to make sure I had days free afterwards to recover from the extra pain it caused.

So I started taking Shilajit, as suggested, very faithfully. I think I had been taking it about 3 weeks when I started noticing a few changes. I was hesitant to believe it was working at first but kept taking it and noticed more and more changes. The first thing I noticed was that my achy pain was less. Achy pain being the type that is just there all the time making even doing nothing painful. Then I noticed my sleep quality was improving and getting out of bed wasn’t so painful. Moving round my house wasn’t as painful and on a bad day I could find a position that I was comfortable so no need for extra meds.
About 6 months after taking Shilajit I was able to start reducing some of my meds (under docs supervision of course – he was as pleased as punch). I noticed showering didn’t hurt like it used to. My hypersensitive/numb patches, on legs, bottom, feet, back etc. had started to change. Not so painful and I could feel the water running on them for the first time in ages.
As the months went by, driving and travelling became less painful, I could get out and weed the garden, and even better, I’d know I would still make it back up the stairs into the house after wards. I even was able to do small shopping trips with my daughter again.
I was able to reduce my pain meds to minimal amounts; I take the least amount of pills now than I have in over a decade. I noticed bodily functions improved and I felt healthier on the inside with the reduced meds. Something that I hadn’t even thought about was the effect pain relief had on my mind. But when I stopped I found I was no longer operating in a fog, my brain felt clear and I could think, read and remember as easy as I used to. I’m back to a book or more a week and I’m thrilled!
In the last 6 months I discovered I that a hypersensitive patch from surgery on my shoulder was improving and I could wear a bra strap without pain. That patch has been painful and numb for 20 years! I couldn’t believe it!

I’m always going to have spinal issues. Some of the implants I have in my back and neck move. I also have new prolapses and bulges on other discs. So even now I have to watch my posture and move properly like anyone with a sore back/neck has to. Long standing nerve damage means that I often suffer weakness in my limbs, for example sometimes when I stand up my right leg just doesn’t work. Its not numb, the muscles just seem to not work for a short time. I still get nerve pain in all of my limbs, my back and my neck just depends if the nerves are being squashed or not at that moment.
But the way that I live my life now is vastly different to before I took Shilajit. I actually get patches where I am pain free, I get out and about more often, I can do gardening and household chores. I’ve even been to visit my mother in Tauranga 3 times this year and prior to that I think it was 3 times in a decade. I’ve been on little shopping trips with my daughter. So many things I could say here that I’m finding myself able to do again after so so long. But I will say that in February I told my surgeon that I wouldn’t have surgery now.
